I’m Lawrence Lovell, a licensed therapist and wedding officiant based in Charleston, SC. I take the time to get to know every couple I work with, because the best ceremonies come from real stories. Whether you’re planning an intimate elopement or a larger celebration, I listen closely to how you want your day to feel and write a ceremony that’s custom to your relationship.

My style is joyful and heartfelt with a light touch. The tone stays warm and genuinely happy throughout, often with a moment of easy humor, so your ceremony feels both meaningful and fun for everyone there.

As a Black officiant, I believe Black love is worth celebrating out loud, and I bring that same joy to every couple I marry.

Beyond the wedding day, I offer a three session premarital counseling program so your marriage is as strong as your ceremony is beautiful. In over 10 years of practice, I’ve helped many couples build the communication and understanding that carry a marriage forward.

A note on venues: I don’t officiate ceremonies at plantation venues. This is a personal decision rooted in the history of those spaces.

1 Ceremony Planning Call (30 Minutes)

We’ll map the tone, flow, and special elements you want (readings, rituals, vows, acknowledgments)

 

3 premarital sessions (Virtual, 50 minutes each)

Focusing on healthy communication approaches, your life transition into marriage, positive wellness practices, as well as addressing specific issues you may be facing.

Personalized Officiant Service (Greater Charleston, SC Area)

A wedding ceremony personalized with your wishes for the ceremony and strengthened by the premarital counseling sessions we will have together. Coordinated with your planner/DJ/photographer for smooth cues and timing.
